Emergency Room in Northwest Georgia

Redmond’s ER is an Accredited Level III Trauma Facility that provides high level healthcare for all types of injuries and illness, including heart attack, stroke, flu and viral illness.

This means that the state assessed features of the trauma program, including commitment, readiness, resources, policies, patient care, and performance improvement processes. An Inpatient Rehabilitation Center enables trauma patients to receive complete care from the moment of arrival to the facility through rehabilitation. The trauma program is staffed with a multidisciplinary team that includes a trauma medical director, board certified surgeons, trauma program director, and specially trained nurses. Redmond also has a helipad for air ambulances.

As an Accredited Chest Pain Center and Advanced Certification Stroke Center, and Advanced Certification for Heart Failure, Redmond offers high level emergency care. Redmond is also the first Joint Commission Certified hospital in the state of Georgia for Carotid Endarterectomy and Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms. A broad range of specialists are available 24/7 to treat emergent situations, including neurosurgeons, neurologists, cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, orthopedic and general surgeons.

Cardiac Emergencies

Comprehensive Emergency Care for Heart Attack Patients

By partnering with community emergency medical services (EMS)—often the first point of contact for someone who may be experiencing a heart attack or myocardial infarction (STEMI)—necessary treatment to save the heart muscle can begin before the patient even reaches the hospital. Redmond can receive transmitted EKGs while the patients are on their way to our Emergency Room!

How STEMI Program Works

Once the paramedic has initiated a STEMI, Redmond’s STEMI Team – consisting of emergency medicine doctors, the cardiac cath lab team and a cardiologist – assembles. The moment the patient arrives at the hospital, he or she is taken directly to the cardiac cath lab. The goal here is to open up blocked arteries as quickly as possible. The team is ready 24/7 and prides themselves on beating the national average of 90 minutes to open clogged coronary vessels.

Redmond Regional greatly values its relationships with our community EMS partners who make the STEMI program successful. Through this program we are able to better serve our community by improving care and saving lives.

ER Wait Times

We realize patients arriving in the emergency department are ill and need to be seen by a medical provider as soon as possible, so minimizing wait time is a top priority. Our expert triage team assesses each patient as they arrive, so there is no wait time for potentially life threatening conditions, such as chest pain or stroke.

The bottom line is really the top of the line – from technology to team members to comfort features, we have it all. When you or a family member has a medical emergency, you can put your trust in Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Our Emergency Team

At Redmond Regional Medical Center, our 19–bed Emergency Room (ER) is equipped to handle a wide variety of illness and injury. Through a team approach to care, we work to stabilize patients, so that they can begin the recovery process.

Emergency Room Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants are part of TeamHealth, a nationally recognized group. They have provided us with a local Medical Director, Dr. Dave Tomey.

Our ER nurses specialize in the care of acute injury and illness for both adult and pediatric patients.
