Breast Cancer Statistics

Approximately 4,600 women in Georgia are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. Worldwide, 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women and accounts for nearly 30% of all cancer cases and 18% of all cancer deaths. More than 90% of breast cancer patients do not have a family history of the disease. If detected early, breast cancer has a five-year survival rate of over 95%. The best method of early detection is to have yearly screening mammograms beginning at the age of 40 for most women. Don’t be another statistic!
