Rome, GA; December 4, 2013 — For the second year in a row, Redmond Regional Medical Center has been named by Georgia Trend Magazine as the “Top Medium-Sized Hospital” in Georgia. The magazine published its 2013 list of Georgia’s Top Hospitals in their December 2013 issue. According to Georgia Trend Magazine, the rankings were compiled based upon publicly available information through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and included “quality of care, patient satisfaction, mortality and readmission statistics and data on hospital-acquired infections and conditions.”
“To be recognized by Georgia Trend magazine as Georgia’s Number One Ranked Medium-Sized Hospital is not only an honor, it’s also validation of the outstanding quality and teamwork demonstrated everyday by our doctors, nurses, technicians and support staff” said John Quinlivan, Redmond Chief Executive Officer. “To receive this honor two years in a row is almost beyond words. There is truly something special here and I am so proud to be a part of the Redmond family.”
In addition to medium-sized hospitals (151-399 beds), the magazine also ranked Teaching Hospitals, Large Hospitals (more than 400 beds), Small Hospitals (fewer than 150 beds) and Critical Access Hospitals (rural community hospitals). Said Quinlivan, “To be named Georgia’s Top Medium-Sized Hospital is an honor for Redmond, but it’s more than that – it’s great for the citizens of Rome. We know that individuals seek out healthcare providers much like consumers seek out the best quality product. Knowing that the Number One Ranked Medium-Sized Hospital – for two years in a row- is right here in Rome is great news for the citizens of Floyd County. You don’t have to leave home to get high quality healthcare.”
This fall, Redmond was also named – for the second year in a row – as one of the nation’s Top Performers on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America. The Top Performer on Key Quality Measures recognition was received for exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care.
