  • Redmond EMS Named Georgia’s 2012 Service of the Year

May 25, 2012

Rome, GA; Redmond Emergency Medical Services was named Georgia’s 2012 EMS Service of the Year at the annual Georgia Association of Emergency Medical Services awards banquet on May 17, 2012. Redmond EMS was proudly chosen from many other regional nominees throughout the state.

“What a tremendous and very well-deserved honor,” says John Quinlivan, FACHE, Redmond Regional Medical Center CEO.  “I can't tell you how proud I am of Robert Early and the brave men and women of Redmond EMS who so tirelessly and ably serve the people of Floyd, Polk and Chattooga Counties.  As we've seen time and again in severe weather, swift water, burning buildings and dangerous traffic, our EMTs and paramedics put themselves at risk to accomplish their mission and provide the best, often life-saving, emergency care possible to their patients.”

This is the second time Redmond EMS has received the statewide award, winning Service of the year in May of 2012 and March of 2009.  In addition to these two prestigious Awards, Redmond EMS was named Service of the Year for Region 1 in 2004 and again in 2009.  Robert Early, Redmond Director of EMS, was also named the 2012 Stanley Payne Memorial Region 1 EMS Director of the Year by the Region 1 EMS Council.

Georgia’s Service of the Year Award is given annually to an EMS provider that exemplifies outstanding professionalism and service to the community. Services submit an application and letter to apply for the award. Factors taken into consideration of the award include:

· Progress and changes in the service

· Benefit to the Community

· Employee Satisfaction

· Response Times

· Ingenuity

· Coverage

“I was blown away when they announced Redmond received the award.” says Robert Early, Redmond EMS Director. “This is the highest honor we can receive within Georgia. I am so proud of my staff. None of this could have happened without their dedication to the health and safety of our community.”

Redmond EMS is now in the running for the National Service of the Year Award which will be announced late fall.

Redmond EMS was established in 1989 and has continued to grow to meet the needs of the communities we serve.  Adding Polk EMS in 2009 and Chattooga EMS in 2011, Redmond EMS now proudly serves three counties. The addition of these two great services to Redmond EMS more than doubled Redmond EMS’s fleet and staff and tripled Redmond’s coverage area.  With each new service, Redmond was able to successfully reduce response times, increase coverage and offer enhanced support and resources to each community.
